Over the past few years, Gowagr has grown from a simple idea into a platform driving dynamic engagement around real-world events, from entertainment trends to sports matchups and even governance debates. Along the way, user behaviour, market dynamics, and the product’s capabilities have all evolved, making it clear that the original identity no longer fully represents the ambition and scope of what the platform has become.
Today, we are proud to announce that Gowagr is now Bayse, a refreshed brand identity that reflects not just where we started, but where we’re going next.

From Opinions to Markets
At its core, Bayse builds on Gowagr’s original mission: to create a space where people can express opinions and support them with conviction. What began as a simple wager-style product soon attracted passionate communities who weren’t just making guesses, they were signalling beliefs about outcomes that mattered to them.
In late 2022, the founders validated the idea by facilitating millions of naira in wagers using basic tools and grassroots engagement during Nigeria’s presidential election cycle. The early traction showed something important: people enjoy expressing opinions when there’s a meaningful, structured platform for doing so.
As the platform matured, so did its ambitions.
By April 28, 2023, the mobile app launched to the public, gathering momentum especially among digitally native communities such as gamers and esports fans. Over time, the platform facilitated tens of thousands of trades and saw more than a million dollars in peer-to-peer volume, clear evidence that users were not just participating, but engaging deeply with the product.
A Transition to Market Infrastructure
In response to user behaviour and real usage data, the team made a strategic shift: rather than remain purely a peer-to-peer application, they built a prediction market exchange, a system where beliefs could be translated into markets backed by real liquidity.
This transition culminated in early 2025 with a major announcement of the platform’s prediction market offering, just ahead of a major global entertainment moment. The result was a surge in activity, from cultural phenomena to high-profile public events, that clearly demonstrated the power of prediction markets to capture real-time sentiment and collective forecasting.
Through it all, one principle guided the evolution of the platform: experiment fast, learn quickly, listen closely, and build with the community.
Why Bayse?

As the product expanded in ambition and scope, the original name Gowagr began to feel limiting. While the name carried the roots of how the journey began, it no longer encapsulated the full essence of what the platform had grown into.
Bayse represents a broader purpose: to be market infrastructure, a foundation for information discovery and collective insight. It’s a name that reflects more than wagers, it signals a fundamental shift toward enabling users to convert their beliefs into tangible market signals.
In doing so, Bayse embodies a new paradigm where:
- Opinions become prices, not just trades.
- Collective sentiment becomes signal, not noise.
- Markets are built around real-world events, not just speculation.
What’s Staying the Same and What’s New?
With this rebrand:
- Your account and history remain the same.
- The products and markets you use continue uninterrupted.
- The same team and community stay at the core of everything we build.
What’s new is a name and identity that better reflects the foundation of trust, insight, and engagement the platform now represents.
Looking Ahead
Bayse is more than a name change, it’s an evolution of identity, purpose, and possibility. As the platform continues to grow, users can expect:
- Continued innovation in prediction market offerings
- Enhanced tools for expressing and trading beliefs
- More opportunities to engage with cultural, social, and economic events in meaningful ways
Welcome to Bayse
